Age 78, of Mt. Lebanon, passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2024. Daughter of the late John and Luise Burke (Schmidt). Wife of the late James R. Stonge. Dear mother of Stephanie L. Stonge and Sandra L. Stonge. Sister of the late Michael Burke. Also survived by many cousins. Carmen received her Bachelor’s and Master's Degrees from Stony Brook University and received her PhD from the City University of New York. She lived all over the world including California, Philippines, Washington and Germany, but ultimately settled in Mt. Lebanon in 1991. Carmen was an accomplished artist who enjoyed painting, prints, and watercolors. She was an Art History professor for 23 years at Duquesne University. She also enjoyed gardening and going to the beach.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Alzheimer’s Association, 2835 E. Carson St., Suite 200, Pittsburgh., PA 15203. All are welcome to attend her committal service, Monday, November 18, 11 AM at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. Everyone please meet at the cemetery office at 10:45 AM.
