Bobb M Stevens at the age of 100 peacefully passed away with his daughters at his side on January 1, 2025. Bobb was a long time resident of Providence Point , formally of Upper St Clair. 

Bobb was predeceased by his wife Shirley nee Chapman, his sister Marilyn Smith and his daughter Jody Kennedy (Robert).

He is survived by his three daughters : Carole Stevens ( Dave Bernhardt) ; Patty Bowman( Jim); Susan Kroboth ( Brad). 9 grandchildren – Kathy Wilson (Jeremy); Jessica Mc Candless ( Nate); Steven Kennedy (Courtney); Ryan Heider (Alison); Tyler Bowman(Kelsey); Kevin Bowman (Abi); Kristi Kennedy (Vincent); Corey Kroboth (Mackenzie); and Jenna Kroboth. He was also survived by 9 great grandchildren. 

Bobb was an Eagle Scout. He was in the Navy (U,S,S, TucsonCL-98). He was employed with Westinghouse Electric Co. for over 38 years. He enjoyed music and travel., however his love was spending time with his grand and great grandchildren! Bobb’ secret to a long life was playing bridge, working puzzles, and raising four girls!!

Bobb was born the eldest of two children to Murray and Charlotte Stevens in Atlanta. Georgia on February 3, 1924. He worked solely for Westinghouse Electric Co. for over 38 years. Bobb had a passion for boating, vacationing at his summer home in Port Elgin, Ontario, and spending time on Lake Chataqua, New York.

He developed his love for water and the outdoors from his experiences in Boy Scouting - reaching the highest level of Eagle Scout with Bronze Palm at Age 15. In addition to scouting his other interest was music. He played the violin in the Auburn Chamber Orchestra, cymbals in the marching band, and was first Chair Oboe in the high school band. In addition to instrumental music, Bobb sang lead in the Barbershop Quartet. Bobb was a strong supporter of the River City Brass Band which he enjoyed for many years. 

Bobb graduated from East Auburn High School in 1941. He attended Oberlin College for two yars before enlisting in the US Navy in 1943. He served on the USS Tucson(CL-98) earing the rank of Lieutenant J.G. In 1946 Bobb returned to Oberlin obtaining his bachelor’s degree in physics. Bobb went on to earn his Master of Business Administration at the University of Michigan in 1950.

In 1950 Bobb started in the student intern program and continued his employment at Westinghouse Electric Co. for over 38 years. During his tenure Bobb was employed in a variety of management positions. His proudest honor was being cordially invited to the launching of the Nuclear-Powered submarine; U.S.S. Nautilus sponsored by Mrs. Dwight D. Eisenhower. Bobb was instrumental in bringing the Super Computer to CMU and the University of Pittsburgh in the early 1970’s.

Bobb met Shirley in 1946 at Oberlin College and being asked to be her bridge partner. They fell in love and were happily married for 65 years. They had four daughters, Carole, Jody, Patty, and Susan . As a couple they enjoyed their travels together. After retirement Bobb and Shirley spent many winters vacationing in Naples, Florida. 

In his later years Bobb loved mostly spending time with his grandchildren, great grandchildren and the fur babies. “Pop Pop “ as he was know , kept in touch in person and through facetime with them all and seldom missed celebrating a milestone or special event. 

Bobb will be remembered as a devoted and patient family man, as well as a wise man with a great sense of Humor!

If you asked Bobb what his secret was to a long life he would say, “Playing bridge, working puzzles, and raising four girls!”

Friends and Family will be received on Friday January 10, 10:30 a.m. with a 12:00 Noon service, 500 Providence Point Blvd., Pittsburgh, 15243. Private burial.
