Age 92, passed away peacefully with family by her side. Beloved wife of the late William J (Bill) Cooper; children Karen (Don) Roman, Glenn (Beth Mangold) Cooper, and Gregory (Corry Stoy) Cooper. Bernice was the loving grandmother to one granddaughter, 11 grandsons and to one great-granddaughter. Preceded in death by her siblings Mary Hrach, Helen Hagelbarger, Edward Balzer, John Balzer, and Virginia Welsh.
Bernice was a devout Catholic and long-time parishioner of Our Lady of Grace Church, where she served as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion to the sick and infirm, Lector, and volunteered for several decades at the Kane Hospital Catholic Chapel.
Bernice was the first member of her family to graduate from college (Mount Mercy College). After graduating, she worked as a wedding dress designer at Jonassen's Bridal Shop, and then for Equitable Gas Company where she tested recipes which were included in customers' monthly bills. Later in life, once her children were grown, Bernice ebulliently worked for many years at Holiday Hallmark in Mount Lebanon where she relished the camaraderie of her colleagues and serving the store's customers.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held FRIDAY, February 5, 2021 at 11:30 AM St. Michael the Archangel Parish-Our Lady of Grace Church. The family will receive visitors inside of Our Lady of Grace during the hour prior to Mass.
