Bernard B. Buranosky
Age 82, of Pittsburgh, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2026. Son of the late Andrew and Petronella (Golitko) Buranosky. Beloved husband of Annette (Kocak) Buranosky. Dear father of Raquel Buranosky, Jessica Lee and Amy (Peter) Marsalis. Loving grandfather of Reese and Halle Marsalis and Bryce Buranosky. Brother of Marty (Geri) Buranosky, Sr. Pat Buranosky, Fr. Dennis Buranosky, Rita (Dale) Stewart, and the late Dorothy, Mary Kay and Andrea Buranosky. Also survived by many close brothers and sisters-in- laws, cousins, nieces and nephews. Bernie attended the University of Toledo on a D1 Football Scholarship as well as in the ROTC program, and graduated with a B.S. in Biology. He returned to Pittsburgh to attend Duquesne University, where he earned his post-graduate degree in Pharmacy. Bernie subsequently served as the Director of Pharmacy at the DeWitt Army Hospital in Virginia. Subsequently, he became Director of Pharmacy at Polk Center, where he created a state-of-the-art pharmacy and won the Pharmacist of the Year Award. He then worked at UPMC Northwest as Director of Pharmacy in Franklin, PA, where he established an outpatient arm which included the first drive-through, outpatient pharmacy, serving nursing homes, prison, and retail customers. As a Captain of the U.S. Army’s Medical Service Corp, he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for contributing materially to the hospital’s “Concerned Care” motto. During this period, his outstanding judgment and professional knowledge proved a tremendous aid to both patients and physicians. Bernie’s greatest love and priority was his wife Annette of almost 60 years. His children and grandchildren were the love of his life. He cherished many friends and extended family members. He will be so greatly missed.
Family and friends are welcome from 3:00 to 5:00 PM Monday, May 11, 2026, WILLIAM SLATER II FUNERAL SERVICE, 1650 Greentree Rd., Scott Twp., 15220 (Scott Twp.).
