Barbara Jean Frantz passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 9, 2018. She was 80 years old. Barbara and Ted retired to Deep Creek Lake, Maryland in 2004 after building their family and construction company in Pittsburgh, PA. Barbara is survived by her husband of 52 years, Ted Frantz, daughter Elizabeth Frantz, son James Frantz and daughter Leslie DeGrendel, husband Alex and grandchildren Lindsey and Derek as well as Barbara's brother David Minnotte, wife Betty and their children, Christin, Jessica and Andrew, Sister-in-law Gretchen and her children Todd (Brandi) and Adam (Sierra).
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, William and Madeline Minnotte, and her younger brother Kenneth.
Barbara was an extremely loving, vibrant, generous and talented woman. While in Pittsburgh she started TEDCO Construction with husband Ted and is the Past President, Mt. Lebanon Junior Women's Club; Member, The Junior League of Pittsburgh; Past President, Construction Financial Management Association.
After she "retired" to Deep Creek Lake Maryland, Barbara became a member of the GFWC Civic Club of Oakland and later served as Treasurer and President. During her tenure, Barbara wrote a book, "A Century of Commitment 1911-2011" and was the Chairperson of the Somerset Antique Show. Barbara was also busy as a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, Garrett County Memorial Hospital Foundation, Vice-President of the Women's Golf Association of Oakland County, House of Hope Food Pantry and St. John's Episcopal Church. Services for Barbara will be 10:30am, Saturday, in St. Paul Episcopal Church, 1066 Washington Rd, Pgh, PA, 15228.
