Age 92, passed away September 9, 2018 at Brookdale Senior Living in Mt. Lebanon. She is survived by five children, Thomas (Tim) McMullen of Eagle, Colorado, Deborah Lesniak of Pittsburgh, Larry McMullen and his wife Teresa of Pittsburgh, Dion McMullen and his wife, Casmera of Pittsburgh, and Marrianne McMullen and her husband, Jeff Epton, of Chicago, IL; she is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Caryl Schiller of New Jersey. Audrey was born to Fred and Eleanor Schweinberg on July 8, 1927 at Braddock Hospital. She graduated from Dormont High School in 1944 and married Tom McMullen, also of Pittsburgh, who operated the Pennzoil Service Station on Potomac Avenue in Dormont for 30 years.They were founding members of Saints Simon & Jude Church, where Audrey was active with Christian Mothers. Audrey was know for hosting and preparing food for large gatherings of family and friends. Dozens would gather at the McMonagle Avenue home over Thanksgiving, Christmas, and the fourth of July. She was an exceptional bridge player, made birthday cakes in every shape imaginable, and cared for her and her husband's parents as they aged. She was a skilled seamstress who worked in the Stephen Richard's Dept. Store on Banksville Road during the 1960s. She later ran a dog grooming business before returning to school in the 1970s to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked at Asbury Heights Nursing Home for nearly 20 years. She was relentlessly hardworking, a giving friend, and was most proud of her children and grandchildren. The McMullen family thanks the skilled and compassionate caregivers at Brookdale, and Allegheny Health Networks Hospice. Donations in her memory can be made to the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh Nursing Excellence Fund. Audrey was preceded in death by her husband, Tom McMullen; her brother Fred Schweinberg; her grandson, Mitchell McMullen; and her daughter-in-law, Dianne McMullen.
