Known to all as "Dolly", age 94, born November 20, 1923, in Pittsburgh to George and Vasiliki Mitchell, lost her battle to live a full life on Monday, March 12, 2018. Loving wife of the late Arch Malanos, she was predeceased by brothers Nick and Gus and beloved sister Millie Caridis. She leaves behind her devoted children Amy Kleissas (Nick) and Jim Malanos (Marilyn) and beloved sister Helen Kontis. She will be missed by her grandchildren Katie Haynes (Matt), Dean Kleissas (Lauren), Mary Malanos and Lucy Malanos and great-grandchildren Josh and Tyler Haynes, in addition to her many nieces, nephews and cousins. Dolly, also known to all as the "Cookie Lady", lived happily independent at Asbury Heights for eight years, before moving to Asbury Villas for the last two years of her life. At Asbury Villas, she received the most skillful and loving care, even though her "cookie" days were behind her. She was a long-time member of Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church in Mt. Lebanon. Living most of her life in Peters township, Dolly's passion was the competitive game of golf and in her younger days she could be seen on many of the Western PA golf courses. She and her husband also loved to travel and she made many memories in the United States, Greece and other countries. She was fond of saying that in any place she visited she would find someone with ties to her hometown of McKees Rocks.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to benefit the wonderful people at Asbury Heights through the Epworth Program, Asbury Heights, 700 Bower Hill Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15243.
