Anthony Joseph Parisi

Anthony “Tony” Parisi, of Mt. Lebanon, formerly a native of Niagara Falls, Ontario Canada, passed away on December 5, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was born on March 30, 1933, to Francesco and Elisabetta Parisi. As a lover of sports, Tony was an exceptional athlete. From 1947 to 1949, he was a goaltender for the Niagara Falls Junior “B” Hockey team. In 1949, Tony was drafted by Galt of the Major Junior Ontario Hockey Association where he played Junior “A” hockey before heading overseas to play in Europe in over 870 games. In 1962, he was called up to play for the American Hockey League’s Pittsburgh Hornets. Ending his hockey career in 1965, he began a 34-year journey as equipment manager with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was a true pioneer in his profession and in June 2022, he was recognized by the Pro Football Hall of Fame for his contributions to the sport. Tony fully retired in 1999, spending some time doing odd jobs, being with his family and doting over his grandsons, both of whom have carried on the sports tradition in baseball. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Joan Parisi; dear father of daughter Paula Parisi Cordeiro and husband Carlos; daughter Elizabeth Parisi and husband Kevin Carney; brother of Dominic Parisi and wife Sonya; John Parisi and wife Virginia, Frank Parisi and wife Diane. Brother-in-law of Albert Moccio and Jasmine Parisi. Loving grandfather of Antonio and Christian Cordeiro, also many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Carmel Moccio; brothers, Vito Parisi; Joseph (Mary) Parisi and nephew Anthony Moccio.
