Anthony J. Mazzarini Sr. “Tony”, age 100, died peacefully from natural causes at home in Holiday, Florida on Friday, December 22, 2023. He was born to Antonio Mazzarini & Firenze Persi Mazzarini on May 23, 1923 in Pittsburgh. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps upon graduation from St. Mary of the Mount High School in 1941 where he was a mechanic on B-17’s for the 381st Bombing unit in World War II and was stationed in Ridgewell, England. Upon returning from the war he embarked on a long career as a business owner and operator of the Parkway Service Station in Pittsburghs west end.
He is survived by his wife Patricia (Carey) age 90 of Holiday, FL, 7 of his 8 children: Karen Mazzarini, Patty Balk, both of Holiday, Donna (Jerry) Palladino of Hudson, FL, Diane (Jeff) Popek of Mt.Lebanon, Merita Smith of Oakdale, Anthony (Michelle) Mazzarini Jr of Scott Township and Janet Mazzarini (Lawson) of Moon Township. He was preceded in death by his 5th daughter Annette Mazzarini in 2015, and his beloved brothers Daniel, Frederick, Louis and sister Mary Pellarin. He leaves 15 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Family and friends welcome Friday, January 5, 2024 from 2-8 pm WILLIAM SLATER II FUNERAL SERVICE (412-563-2800) 1650 Greentree Rd., Scott Twp. 15220 where a blessing service will be held Saturday, January 6, 2024 at 10:00am with Fr. Ken White officiating, followed with Military Honors by VFW Post 5111. Entombment to follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery Mausoleum. Memorials may Be made to VFW Post 5111, Mt. Washington.
