Anna V. Rizza (September 16, 1918-December 6, 2018) went peacefully to her Heavenly Father to be with her late Husband, James A. Rizza, and siblings Helen Walecki and Bernard Pelc—fulfilling her promise of "retirement" once she vigorously celebrated her 100th Birthday with her children Joanne Williams (Chris), James, the late Richard, Geraldine Nobile (James), Rosemary, Bernard (Anna), Paul (Susan) and Robert as well as Grandchildren Desirae, Lerin, Dominique, Devin, Shalyn, Alexandra and Julian and Great-Grandchildren Isabella, Sienna, Brooklyne,Myah, Logan and Lilliana. Anna Rizza was the epitome of the "Greatest Generation", having survived the Influenza of 1918, WWI, the Great Depression and WWII (during which her late Husband served with pride) and taking part in the Baby Boomer years by joyously raising eight children and shepherding over many of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren—all the while with a smile on her face and a dogged determination to make the lives of those around her better than that to which she was subject. The love of her large family and many friends was paramount in her life as was her devotion to the Roman Catholic Church where she was a parishioner Church of The Resurrection (Brookline) at which a mass celebrating her life will be held beginning 10:00am on Monday, December 10, 2018 after a viewing on December 9, 2018 at Slater's Funeral Home at 1650 Greentree Road, Pittsburgh, Pa. 15220 between 2:00pm-8:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be telephoned to the American Heart Association (1-800-AHA-USA1).
