Andrew Edward Gursky, MD, 100, of Mt. Lebanon, went home to be with the lord, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, May 18, 2026. Beloved husband to the late Dolores Loretta Gursky; devoted Father of Andrea Gursky, Dr. Alyssa Gursky (Nunzio Tarantino), Alysson Mayer (Christian), Dr. Andrei Gursky (Hayat) and Alexis Sebastian, Esq. (Donald); survived by 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
A graduate of University of Pittsburgh and University of Pittsburgh Medical School, Andrew served as a pediatrician in the South Hill for 65 years, being the longest practicing pediatrician in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. He loved caring for the families in his practice, which is evidenced by the many generations of patients who fondly remember him. Andrew also participated in research and teaching capacities over the years, as well as being on the staff of Children’s Hospital, Magee Women’s Hospital and Southside Hospital.
Andrew served in the United States Air Force as a Captain during the Korean War (1953-1955) in the medical corps, earning several distinguished medals: National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, and the UN Service Medal. During the conflict, Andrew was the Chief of Pediatric Services in Japan.
A lifelong lover of learning, Andrew’s interests covered a wide range of topics such as history, cultures, languages, art, travel, physics, cooking, and fine dining. He loved to share his knowledge with everyone and was always hoping to inspire others to learn and better themselves.
Andrew’s true love and essence was his family.
He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, but the treasure of his love and piercing blue eyes will forever live on in the hearts of all who had the honor to call him husband, father, grandfather, friend.
