Andrea M. Bendel, age 59, of Mt. Lebanon, formerly of McKeesport, died Tuesday, February 18, 2025 surrounded by family at her home. She was born on May 13, 1965 in Braddock and was a graduate of Serra Catholic High School and of West Virginia University.
Andrea was the daughter of Patricia A. Malack and the late Edward R. Malack; loving wife to John J. Bendel; sister to the late Edward J. “Poco” (Andrea) Malack; and devoted mother to her three children: Christopher (Claire) Bendel, Dane (Christine) Bendel, and Teresa Bendel. In addition to her mother, husband and children, Andrea is survived by her aunt, Elly Kuszajewski.
Andrea made an impression on everyone she met, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, selflessness and resilience. She volunteered with the Suicide Prevention Hotline, Mt. Lebanon Village and as a CCD teacher with St. Bernard Church in Mt. Lebanon.
Andrea loved hosting family and friends for get-togethers of all kinds, but especially around the holidays. Friends will remember her “retro” Christmas party and cooking, especially her pasta sauce. Music was a big part of her life – there’s nothing she loved more than enjoying live music with friends.
During her last years of life, while receiving medical care, her faith deepened as a source of strength and she shared her sense of humor and took special interest in those that cared for her.
