Age 91, of Dormont, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 24, 2017. Maria Alexandra Lubow Kucher was born to the late Rev. Marian and Julia Bronislava (Goy) Kucher in Tluste, Ukraine on November 22, 1925. When Alice was six months old, her parents immigrated to Canada, then to Boston, MA, and eventually settled in Carnegie, PA where her father was pastor of Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Church. Upon graduating from Carnegie High School, Alice attended the Business Training School (BTC) in Pittsburgh and went to work for Blue Cross as an Administrative Assistant/Bookkeeper. She was devoted to her family and loved dancing, singing, traveling, making Ukrainian pyrohy and conversations with everyone she met. Alice was a longtime, active member of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Friends of the Duquesne University Tamburitzans, the Pittsburgh Folk Festival since its founding in 1956, and Director of the LUC Ukrainian Dance Group. Alice is predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Michael. She is survived by brother Val Kucher; six children, Michael E. (Jane) Haritan, Dianne (Mike) Brown, Elaine Kimber, Adrienne (Alan) English, Monica Haritan, and Timothy (Andrea) Haritan; and 14 grandchildren, Matt (Christina), Andrew, Adam, and Danny Haritan, Neal (Kristin) Brown, Amy Brown, and Caryn (Joe) Bevins, Alex and Ian Kimber, Alana, Alden, and Alicia English, and Allegra and Tyler Haritan; as well as three great-grandchildren, Ella and Mila Haritan, and Byron Bevins.
