Albert L. Mackey, Jr. (Al), age 70, was born in Pittsburgh, PA on February 12, 1955, and passed away in Orlando, FL on October 4, 2025. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Waldron Mackey, his son AJ and his wife, Davina Knaur Mackey of St. Cloud, FL., sisters Marilyn Mackey Obiecunas of Pittsburgh, PA, and Linda Mackey Scovern of Westerville, OH. He is also survived by his nieces and their families, Cindy (Mike) Drnec of Sykesville, MD, and Diane (Chris) Caravajal of Columbus, OH. Al was predeceased by his parents, Al and Ruth (Shore) Mackey, Sr., his grandparents, Leo and Leonora Mackey and Phillip and Margaret Shore, his brother-in-law, Mike Obiecunas, and nephew, Al Scovern.
Al was a graduate of Canevin Catholic High School, class of 1973. He was best known for his all-around athleticism. Sports were his passion, especially baseball, football, basketball and golf, for which he won the state title his senior year. Al also attended Gulf Coast College and Point Park College where he continued his baseball passion.
Al re-located to the Orlando, FL area in the late 1980's, and continued his career in sales, primarily in Real Estate, as a Broker/Agent with Re/Max Orlando. He continued his passion for baseball, and helping, mentoring and coaching all the players from Little League through High School.
Al was a faithful fan of the Pittsburgh sports teams, especially the Steelers and Pirates. He always made sure he was "geared up" for the Steelers games. He was a gardener, and kept a prolific crop of vegetables and herbs, but was most proud of his potatoes, which he planted on St. Partick's Day. A true Irishman at heart, he celebrated St.Patrick's Day as a tribute to his Irish heritage. No surprise, he married Nancy on St. Patrick's Day 1990!
Al is very much loved and will be greatly missed.
