Age 87, of Brookline passed away peacefully on Monday morning February 26, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Hospice Facility in Wexford PA. Preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Edna N. Jones, together they loved and enjoyed life and lived for Mark M. Jones (Nadja) and Jane C. Wall (Jack). They then spoiled and cherished five grandchildren--Natalie, Colin, Maxwell, Jordan and Ethan. Albert was born at Shadyside Hospital on October 7, 1930, and he took to the outdoors learning to shoot and hunt at an early age. His schooling ended rather abruptly when his father discovered him hunting rabbits yet again this time with the school truant officer. He began his working career at age 13 at A.E. Jones Company on Federal Street on the North Side. He was big and strong and learned his craft mostly from his grandfather, the founder of the family business, and by the age of 18, he was an accomplished journeyman. He painted for 49 years as a proud member of the Painters and Allied Trades Union Local 6, working for several firms, rarely missing a day's pay, and earning a reputation as the man that would make the boss a buck. During his career and in retirement he enjoyed hunting and fishing, never missing a PA deer season until he was well into his 80's. He was a lifetime member of the Library Sportsman's Club, shooting trap and skeet, and telling tales with his buddies—some were tall but the tales were always entertaining. Friends and Family will be received from 2-4 and 6-8pm, Friday March 2 at William Slater II Funeral Service (412-563-2800), 1650 Greentree Road, Pittsburgh, PA. Service 11:00am Saturday at the funeral home. The family asks any donations be made to the Good Samaritan Hospice, 116 Browns Hill Road, Valencia, PA 16059.
