Master Sergeant Albert E. Hilla, 60, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in Edinboro, PA on Tuesday February 8th 2022. He fought a long battle with stage 4 cancer and other ailments. Al was a decorated veteran who served in the United States Air Force for 23 years.
Al was born on May 8, 1961 in Pittsburgh PA to his late parents Albert E. Hilla and Nancy Ann Hilla (Mahan). He attended Keystone Oaks High School graduating in 1979. He met the love of his life, Sharon Hilla (Runski) at K.O. He eventually joined the United States Air Force, serving 23 years with multiple tours of duty.
After retiring from the military, he worked at Scott Electric in Erie PA. Al also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing cards, metal detecting, collecting old relics and coins, watching sports, and all things competitive.
Al was predeceased by his parents Albert E. Hilla and Nancy Ann Hilla (Mahan), sister Denise Hilla, sister Nancy Wisner, and brother John Hilla. He is survived by his loving wife Sharon Hilla (Runski), daughters Chenell Platz (Hilla) and Kayla Hilla along with granddaughter Brooklyn Platz, and siblings Georgette (David) Wilkinson, LaVern (Arthur) Hilla-Basnight, William (Barb) Hilla, Darlene Pardiny, and Carol (Anthony) Pirrello.
He was loved by so many also including his brother and sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, military family, coworkers, and friends.
