Age 87, of Mt. Washington, passed away peacefully at home with family at his side on Saturday, December 16, 2017, after a recent diagnosis of melanoma. Beloved husband of 54 years of Kathleen "Kathy" (Macsurak) Gedeon; loving father of Paul (Michelle) Gedeon and Michael Gedeon; cherished Poppa of Alexander, Lauren, Aubrey, Katherine and Andrew. Albert was a Veteran of the Navy from 49-53 - radioman, member of Association of Steel Distributors (President 1992, Man of the Year in 1993), a mentor for Junior Achievement in Cleveland, SCORE Veteran (Counselors to American Small Businesses) assisting small business owners, donating time and expertise. He was a current member of St. Mary of the Mount Church. Albert was a Pittsburgh native from Beltzhoover, attended school in St. Georges in Allentown (now closed). He started his career in 1955 at J&L Galvanizing Line, now known as Metal Tech. His career took him to Cleveland, Ohio and Tulsa, Oklahoma. He held many various executive jobs until 1982, when at age 52, decided to form his own company called Lane Steel. Paul stated, "Dad retired in 1995. He taught my brother and I well. The business continues to grow and thrive thanks to the time our father took to prepare us to take over the business. He developed business relationships with customers in many states east of the Mississippi. " He was a huge fan of all Pittsburgh sports teams. He was a gregarious people person in business and personal life. If you knew him, you loved him.
