Alan J. Cohen

Age 73, of Mount Lebanon, passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021. Beloved husband of 48 years to Marcia (Silver) Cohen. Loving father of Jeremy (Rebecca) Cohen. Cherished Papa of Isla and Kennedy Cohen. Beloved brother of Ivan (Rhelda) Cohen. Cherished uncle of Ross Cohen, Jason, Alex, and Matthew Silver, and the late Glenn Cohen. Beloved brother-in-law of Dr. Rick (Paulette) Silver. Alan was a high school educator whose career spanned 35 years with Duquesne School District and Pittsburgh Public Schools. He was an avid global traveler, having completed 38 cruises with his wife Marcia, visiting all the places he taught about in world history. He loved his family and physical activities, especially Zumba and spinning. He was a fixture at Bally's/LA Fitness for many years. He had a terrific sense of humor and lived life to its fullest. Many of his former students throughout Pittsburgh would stop him to tell him how important he was to them. He had a passion for waxing and polishing his cars, no matter the weather. The family would like to thank Dr. Paul Gardner, Dr. Carl Snyderman, and Dr. Melissa Burgess for the excellent care they provided Alan.
